Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR Level C+)

For healthcare professionals

• Signs and symptoms of angina, cardiac arrest, cerebrovascular accident and transient ischemic attack
• Medicines used by individuals with a heart condition (Nitroglycerin, Aspirin)
• Ventilation
  1. Mouth-to-mouth, pocket mask…
  2. Bag valve mask
• Compression versus Ventilation
• One-rescuer CPR on adults
• Unconscious victim, lateral position
• CPR on children
• Two-rescuer CPR on children and adults
• CPR on infants
• Stopping victims aged one year and older from suffocating
• Stopping less than one year old victims from suffocating
• Automated external defibrillator (AED)
  1. Early defibrillation
  2. AED operation (one and two rescuers)

Hands-on training course:

PHTLS

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support

Initial assessment of the scene and kinetics of the accident

Primary and secondary survey

• Cervical support
• ABCDE, full and local secondary survey
• Determining if the patient is in “critical” or “non-critical” condition

Airway and ventilation management

• Use of oropharyngeal, nasopharyneal cannulas and Combitube©
• Ventilatory assistance

Head and cervical trauma

• Traumatized patient rolling (on your own or in a team)
• Shock management

Chest trauma

• Chest injuries assessment and treatment
• Hemorrhagic control (gunshot wound, tourniquet, laceration)

Thermal trauma

• • Hypothermia management

• Burns management

Introduction to pediatric and geriatric trauma

Particular situations and triage methods

Specific manipulation techniques

• Helmet removal
• Quick evacuation
• Use of a spine board (on the ground and in quick descent)
• Use of a KED and a vacuum mattress

PHTLS Advanced

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support – Advanced Course

Basic PHTLS techniques must be mastered in order to be able to follow a PHTLS Advanced training course.
The participant must have a valid PHTLS certificate.

Primary and secondary survey review

• Cervical support
• ABCDE, full and local secondary survey
• Determining if the patient is “critical” or “non-critical” condition

Airway and ventilation management

• Endotracheal intubation, surgical and needle cricothyrotomy

Head and cervical trauma

• Intravenous technique and fluid resuscitation
• Shock management

Chest trauma

• Chest injuries assessment and treatment
• Thoracotomy

Thermal trauma

• Burns management + Intravenous therapy

Specific manipulation techniques

• Helmet removal
• Quick evacuation
• Use of a spine board and a vacuum mattress
